80 Central Park West is having a new cooling tower installed this Saturday, which will involve a large crane on the block. As a result, the street will be closed to traffic from 7am to 4pm on the 18th.
No parking will be permitted on either side of the street from CPW to the building’s garage ramp in order to accommodate the crane. Parking will be permitted on the rest of the block.
The garage at 80 CPW will be open during the entire project, and vehicles will be permitted to exit and enter. Vehicles leaving the garage will need to follow the direction of a flagmen stationed at the sidewalk ramp. Flagmen will also be posted at both the CPW and Columbus Avenue ends of the block to restrict traffic entering the block and permitting vehicles to leave the block onto Columbus Avenue.
The assembly of the crane will begin at 7:00 AM and will take about three hours. The actual lifting of the cooling tower onto the roof and removal of the old tower will begin at about 10:00 AM and will take several hours. Disassembly of the crane will follow immediately and will also require a few hours to complete. All work should be completed by 4:00 PM.
